This weekend Cass and his band recorded for a new album coming up and I had the honored privilege of hanging out in the tech room at Haxton Road Studios. It was magical for a number of reasons.
Watching my favorite human do his favorite thing is pure joy.
The musicianship was top notch. They're all six wildly talented, creative and disciplined.
They are good to each other. These guys encouraged, celebrated and challenged one another openly and gracefully.
The gel of the mix could never have happened if they were each performing alone.
This. Is. Good. Community.
The community we're made for.
The community we thrive in.
The community that will only grow from here.
The project itself would not be happening without the rallying of people who love us and Cass's art. Y'all are footing the bill. (And if you want to jump on this bandwagon, click here.) One-hundred percent of the songs were flushed out of pain, hardship and triumph from Cass's life—life that happens in the context of support from each of our friends and family.
I'm so proud of him and all his buddies. I'm so grateful to be connected to all of them and to get to partake in this beautiful creation. Can't wait to hear the final product.
